The challenge

The client was considering closing an existing facility. Sand Hill partnered with the client to evaluate whether a different product mix, using many of the assets already in place, could create a stronger future for the operation.

Sand Hill's contribution

Sand Hill worked with the client to evaluate and implement the change in product mix. The work combined the use of existing assets with the addition of a new production line, connecting a strategic market decision to changes in the facility's production capability.

The outcome

The new product mix opened a market that was new to the client. The facility increased production and revenue while significantly improving contribution margin per unit. A facility that had been considered for closure became one of the most profitable in the client's network.

How this work connects

Repositioning the facility connects growth with the recovery of an operation facing closure. The new production line and changed product mix required development of the physical asset as well as a change in the facility's operating purpose. The result brings growth, development, recovery and transformation into one connected business outcome.
